Activate License

365 Pro Toolkit runs as a 15 day free trial when you first install it. Everything is included, with nothing held back and no need for a key. When the trial ends you activate a license key to carry on.

Activate a key

  1. Go to Settings > License.
  2. Paste your license key into the License key box.
  3. Click Activate license.

The toolkit contacts the license server to validate the key and then reloads itself. Within a few seconds the page shows License active, along with the customer name the key is registered to, the number of admin licenses it covers, and the expiry date.

You need to be a toolkit Admin or Owner to reach the License page, and the machine needs outbound HTTPS to store.activedirectorypro.com.

What the License page shows

Row Meaning
Customer and Email Who the key is registered to at the store
License key Your key, partly masked
Admin Licenses How many admin accounts the purchased tier covers, or Unlimited for a Site license
Expires The renewal date, or Lifetime for a key with no expiry
Activated When this machine was activated

Refresh status re-checks the key against the license server, which is what you use after renewing or after changing your plan. The toolkit also re-checks on its own shortly after each start.

Move a license to another machine

A license is tied to the machine it was activated on, so moving it is two steps and the order matters.

  1. On the old machine, go to Settings > License and click Deactivate. This frees the activation.
  2. On the new machine, activate the key as above.

If the old machine is gone and you cannot deactivate it, contact support and we will free the activation for you.

Troubleshooting

"Couldn't reach the license server." The machine could not make an outbound HTTPS connection to store.activedirectorypro.com. Check the internet connection, and any proxy or firewall rule that filters outbound traffic from the server.

"Invalid license key." The key was not recognized. Check for a missing character or a stray space, and paste it rather than typing it.

"No activations remaining for this license." Every activation the key allows is already in use, usually by a machine the toolkit was previously installed on. Deactivate it there, or contact support to free it.

"This license key is not valid for this product." The key belongs to a different Active Directory Pro product. 365 Pro Toolkit needs its own key.

"This license key has expired." The subscription lapsed. Renew it at the store, then come back and click Activate license again.
