Reset and Unlock User Accounts
Reset any user’s password in a few clicks. Search for the account, check if it’s locked out, view the current password status and expiry date, set the new password, and apply it, all from one screen. You can also unlock the account and force a password change at next logon at the same time.
- Check lockout status
- Find all locked users
- Reset and unlock user accounts
Password Options: Auto-Generate or Manual
Choose to enter a password manually or let the tool generate a strong 16-character password automatically. Auto-generated passwords include uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters.
Copy the password to clipboard to share it with the user. You can also check the box to force a password change at next logon.”
Force Password Change at Next Logon
When resetting a password, you can enable the “User must change password at next logon” option to require the user to set their own password the first time they sign in.
This is the recommended approach for most password resets as it ensures the admin never knows the user’s permanent password. When this option is enabled, the user will be prompted to create a new password immediately after logging in with the temporary password you provided.
Delegated Password Reset for Helpdesk
Most helpdesk teams need to reset passwords and unlock accounts but don’t need full access to Active Directory. With delegated access, you can give helpdesk staff permission to use the password reset and unlock tool without exposing the rest of the toolkit or granting them admin rights.
Set up a security group for your helpdesk team and assign them access to only the password reset tool. They can search for users, reset passwords, unlock accounts, and force password changes at next logon, nothing more. This keeps your AD environment secure while giving your team the access they need.
- Grant helpdesk or other staff password reset access
- Role based access permissions
- Allow non admins to unlock and reset accounts
Bulk Password Reset
Reset passwords for multiple users at once using a CSV file or GUI. Add the user logon names and new passwords to the template, import it, and the tool applies all the changes in one batch. You can also force all users to change their password at next logon during the import.
This is useful for onboarding a group of new hires, resetting an entire department after a security incident, or enforcing a company-wide password change. Instead of resetting each account individually through ADUC, you handle it all in a single operation.
